How to Use
Prep unfinished wood surface by sanding at 220-330 grit. For used cutting boards or wooden utensils, first clean and dry wood surface thoroughly. Shake bottle well, then apply a thin layer to oil the entire surface. Allow 12-24 hours to cure, then buff away excess.
Benefits & Uses
Our Fractionated Coconut Oil is a clear, vegan product with a naturally very-thin consistency. It's an ideal choice when needing a penetrating oil solution that does not polymerize. This means it will soak deep into the wood pours, prevent drying, and help repel moisture when it comes in contact with water. For this reason it's great for regularly treating cutting boards, butcher block countertops, wooden utensils, and any other food-contact surface.
Difference Between Fractionated Coconut Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil
Fractionated Coconut Oil is obtained through a specialized process called fractionation, which separates the different components of coconut oil based on their melting points. This results in a liquid oil primarily composed of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which remain in liquid form at room temperature. While regular coconut oil is solid and retains the distinct coconut flavor and aroma, fractionated coconut oil is odorless, flavorless, and stays liquid, making it suitable and completely safe for conditioning wood. In contrast, virgin or unrefined coconut oil is derived from fresh coconut meat, undergoes minimal processing, and has a solid consistency at room temperature due to its high saturated fat content. Without fractionation it will spoil and go rancid, rendering in unsuitable for wood conditioning.
Is it Food-Safe?
Yes, our Fractionated Coconut Oil l is considered safe for food-contact surfaces by the FDA. It is made 100% VOC-Free, with zero dryers, metals, or chemicals.
